Balderton Parish Council
Minutes of the Council Review Committee meeting
held in the Council Hall on Tuesday October 10th 2006 at 10.00am
PRESENT Councillors White (Chairman), Mrs Brooks, Colman, Hind, Mortimore and
Sheppard with the Clerk.
APOLOGIES none were received.
DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST None were made.
0064 Staff Reviews
Cllrs Colman and White had spoken to almost all Council staff on an informal and
confidential basis to help promote good working relations, try and prevent any
problems developing, address any issues etc. It was considered that this had
been a useful undertaking and it should be carried out at least annually.
0065 Annual Leave
The discrepancy in annual leave entitlement between groundstaff was considered.
Mr Chessor presently has 5 days annual leave less than other groundstaff owing
to local negotiations some years ago for existing staff at the time. Mr Chessor
has now worked for the Council for over four years and he works hard.
It was, AGREED that Mr Chessor’s leave
entitlement be brought into line with other groundstaff.
The Council admin staff’s annual leave entitlement differs slightly from the
local District
Council for longer serving staff (i.e. more than ten years).
It was, AGREED that admin staff ‘s annual leave
entitlement be increased if individually required, to be in line with the local
District Council. .
0066 Deputy Clerk
Approval was given for the Deputy Clerk to be paid for any extra contracted
hours worked during any periods of leave taken by the Clerk, rather than taking
time off in lieu which is presently proving problematic.
0068 Playing Field Attendant
The need to increase staff presence on the playing field during weekend activity
was again discussed and considered. The new building must be closely supervised
particularly during weekend sporting activity.
Mr Long has expressed an interest in working some
of the time but members considered that more than one part-time staff is
required for rota work to oversee the new building and playing field in order
that there will be someone on site all day. An advert will be placed in the
local paper inviting applicants.
The meeting closed at approximately 10.35 am.
