Minutes of the Planning Committee meeting held in the Balderton Village Centre on Wednesday November 14th 2007 at 10.00am

PRESENT Councillors Sheppard (Chairman), Gibson, Mrs Hurst, Mrs Jarvis and Mrs Newstead with two parishioners and the Clerk

APOLOGIES were received from Councillors Colman and Mortimore.

DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST Cllr Mrs Hurst declared a personal interest to application no. 1474 - extension at 47 Macaulay Drive. Cllrs Mrs Hurst and Mrs Jarvis declared personal interests relating to one of the parishioners who spoke whilst the meeting was closed. All members present declared a personal interest to application no. 1542 - Mount Road Cemetery extension.

The meeting was closed to hear parishioner’s comments and concerns about planning application
No. 1599 to erect a dwelling on land adjacent to 2a Main Street. They were thanked for their information and attendance and left. The meeting re-opened at approximately 10.10am.

0052 Planning Applications
The following planning applications were considered and approved subject to any comments detailed below:
1474 Single storey extension & detached double garage 47 Macaulay Drive
1477 Conservatory, garage & new boundary wall/gates 88 Main Street
1480 Single storey rear extension 10 Longfellow Drive
1534 Single storey extension & new pitched roof 7 Wordsworth Drive
1538 Detached garage 74 Main Street
1540 Single storey rear/front extension 44 Russell Avenue
1542 Extension to Balderton Cemetery Mount Road

The following applications were considered and objected to with the following comments:
1335 Conversion & extension to disused water tower Water Tower, Goldstraw Lane Members considered that there are inadequate car parking spaces and concerns were raised about safety owing to the lack of fire escapes in the tower.
1410 Illuminated facia sign (amended) 33 Main Street Members considered that the sign is too bright and garish, and is out of keeping with the surrounding area.
1499 4 bedroom detached dwelling/integral garage 140 Main Street
There is no separate access to the proposed dwelling and members consider that further traffic on this busy corner of Main Street would be hazardous.
1500 3 bedroom house/integral garage (amended) 2 Howard’s Gardens
Members considered that the development would have a detrimental affect upon neighbouring properties and is out of proportion, i.e. too large, in relation to surrounding dwellings.
1599 3 bed dwelling (re-submission) Site adjoining 2A Main Street
Members considered that this would have a detrimental affect upon a neighbouring property and concerns were raised about the access to the property which is very close to a busy traffic light junction.

The following applications have been refused by the District Council and were noted:

1639 Demolish factory, residential development Flowserve, Hawton Lane
