Minutes of the Centre Management Sub Committee meeting held on Wednesday January 16th 2008 at 5.30pm in the Council Hall.

PRESENT Councillors Allsopp, Mrs Jarvis, Mrs Newstead and White with the Clerk.

APOLOGIES were received from Cllrs Gibson, Mortimore, Sheppard and Miss Watson.

0001 Chairman
Cllr Allsopp was nominated for and duly elected as committee Chairman.

0002 Vice Chairman
Cllr White was nominated for and duly elected as Vice Chairman.

0004 Licensing Issues
Members were advised that following a visit from a District Council licensing officer, administrative changes have been made regarding booking registered doormen for events where it is considered that a doorman is necessary.

0005 Bar Arrangements
Discussion took place regarding the present arrangements for the bar. The Council’s percentage takings of the profits taken over the bar up to the end of August were reviewed – further details are awaited for the takings up to the end of the calendar year. One or two issues will be raised with the Designated Premises Supervisor but members considered on balance that the arrangements are working well.

0006 Centre Usage
The Centre has been open for just over a year and is proving popular with users – many events are already booked for this calendar year, and most bookings are by people who have attended another event or through personal recommendation. Members considered that further promotion for parties and weddings is not presently necessary owing to the number of bookings already made, but day time use of the Centre could be increased.

0007 Security
Staff security issues were discussed and agreed.
