No declarations of interest were made.
1417 Clerk/Chairman’s Update
A printed update of ongoing matters was circulated and noted. The update is
published with the minutes. The following issues were discussed from the update:
1. Re Minute 1306 Headstone safety Cllr Mrs Jarvis undertook to again expedite
the written confirmation awaited from the Southwell Diocese regarding memorial
stone safety in St. Giles Churchyard not being the Council’s responsibility.
2. Re Minute 1409 Field drainage Approval was given to commissioning a
specialist company in Lincolnshire to inspect and give advice regarding drainage
on the playing field. This involves taking levels and compiling a report/plan
for any necessary work, and will cost approximately £350-£400.
1418 Planning Applications
The following application was considered and objected to with the comments
detailed below:
1639 Demolish factory, erect new, erect 210 dwellings (amended) Flowserve,
Hawton Lane Members re-iterated the comments made about the original planning
application, i.e. the site entrance should not be moved towards the bridge and a
further traffic system through Lowfield Lane should be considered to ease
traffic congestion on Hawton Lane.
Disappointment will be expressed that the Council’s original comments have not be taken into account, along with surprise that the County Highways department does not acknowledge the hazard of the proposed entrance location.
Cllrs Mrs Hurst and Mrs Jarvis undertook to raise
the concern with the Highways department at a scheduled meeting next week.
The following application was considered and approved with any comments detailed
below:
1438 Two storey extension 13 Tennyson Road
1419 Lakeside Trees
Members reviewed quotations received for work to a line of trees on Lakeside
between Catkin Way and Heron Way.
It was, AGREED that Forest Farm Tree Services be
selected as the preferred contractor on this occasion at a cost of £970 + vat.
1420 Storage Container
Authorisation was given to the purchase of a steel storage container at a cost
of £950, to be sited adjacent to the sports side of the Centre for the storage
of football nets and corner poles. These items are presently stored in the first
aid room causing the room to be unusable for its intended purpose.
1421 2008/09 Budget
Further consideration was given to budgetary requirements for 2008/09. Amended
draft committee ‘running costs’ were circulated and discussed at length. The
increased committee running expenditure is offset considerably by reduced
staffing costs this year.
Projects to be considered include the Cemetery
extension and playing field drainage work costs once these are known. It was
acknowledged that there is a requirement to substantially increase sporting fees
next year to more truly reflect the increased costs to provide the facilities.

noted:
