0007 Pavilion Re-build
Members discussed the progress to date of the project, particularly the four contractors. One contractor had proved unsuitable owing to his inability to provide requested quotations and/or details on time, one contractor had voluntarily withdrawn from the project, leaving two possible contractors. Both have made a ‘presentation’ of their company profiles and ideas for the building to members and the architect.

The architect is drafting a letter to the two contractors asking for their final proposals which will be requested as soon as possible. The sub committee will review the proposals and make a decision for the preferred contractor - that recommendation will then be referred for approval to an extraordinary meeting of the Council to progress with the project.

Prices have been obtained for hiring suitable storage facilities and temporary accommodation and toilets for the groundstaff and cricketers during the summer months. The cost is approximately £100 per week.

To aid funding the project, consideration was given to approaching local businesses to sponsor individual changing rooms. Personal approaches were considered more effective and members would give thought to co-opt someone to undertake these duties.

Discussion took place upon the preferred name for the new building – one suggestion was that the name Quibell be included after the family who sold the playing field land to the Council. Members considered it would be interesting to visit County Archives to view the Council minutes from the time of purchasing the land.

The meeting closed at approximately 11.00am
