🎶🎥 Music, Movies and Meaning: Charity Concert Strikes a Chord for Bereaved Children 🎶🎥

An uplifting afternoon of live music will return to Newark this year as the Nottingham Symphonic Wind Orchestra presents its much-loved annual charity concert in support of the Children’s Bereavement Centre.

Widely regarded as one of the leading wind orchestras of its kind in the UK, the Nottingham Symphonic Wind Orchestra is dedicated to performing music to the highest standard while raising vital funds for local charities and community organisations. This year, the orchestra is once again proud to support the Children’s Bereavement Centre, which provides free, specialist bereavement support to local children and young people.

The Music from the Movies and Musicals concert will take place at the Palace Theatre, which is generously providing the venue for this special fundraising event. Sunday 10th May 2026 2.30pm.

Audiences can look forward to a vibrant programme celebrating some of cinema’s most iconic scores. Last year’s concert featured much-loved music from films such as Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones and Star Wars, and this year promises another memorable journey including new scores from Musicals.

Katie Gibson from the charity’s fundraising team said: “We are incredibly grateful for this collaboration between the Wind orchestra and the Palace Theatre. The commitment shown by everyone involved means so much to the children and families we support. Events like this don’t just raise funds , they raise hope, awareness, and a sense of community for our families facing the most difficult times.”

All performers, organisers and hosts involved in the concert are volunteering their time, with 80% of all ticket sales donated directly to the Children’s Bereavement Centre, helping to ensure its services remain free of charge for those who need them most.
