Five Dinners Hands-on Training Day

Event Location: Balderton Village Centre, Coronation Street, Balderton, Newark, Notts, NG24 3BD
FREE
Wednesday 23rd September 2026
9:30am – 3:00pm

Details

The training day will be led by celebrity chef Theo Michaels, who will guide participants through a range of simple one-pot recipes. Alongside the cooking, Theo will share practical advice on teaching others, basic knife skills and ways to build confidence when leading community cooking activities.

Members of the Health Improvement Team will also be there throughout the day to answer questions, share their experiences of running Chop & Chat sessions, and introduce our new Chop & Chat recipe book. More importantly, the day will be an opportunity to have fun, discuss any concerns you may have about delivering cooking sessions, and build a supportive network of like-minded community organisations.

This training forms part of our Five Dinners campaign, which is free for anyone who lives or works in Newark and Sherwood to join.

Following the workshop, the Council team can also provide support with funding applications to help purchase the equipment needed to run your own sessions. We will also be delivering our next four-week Chop & Chat programme during October and November, and anyone interested in seeing the sessions in action would be very welcome to attend.
