STRICTLY NO SWIMMING OR PADDLING AT BALDERTON LAKE
This is strictly prohibited
Open water can look harmless in warm weather, but it can be extremely dangerous. Hidden currents, sudden drop‑offs and cold temperatures can overwhelm you instantly. Even on a hot day, the water is cold enough to trigger cold water shock the moment you hit it - no matter how strong a swimmer you are. If you see someone in trouble, call 999 immediately.

If someone is in trouble:
  • Don’t go in after them
  • Call 999
  • Encourage them to float
  • Throw something that floats
Entering the lake puts your safety at serious risk and disturbs the wildlife that depends on this environment. Please do not enter the water under any circumstances. Cooling off in open water is not worth the risk.
Help us keep everyone safe and protect Balderton Lake.
